Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:


a)	THEFUTUREISBRIGHT (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gate.
b)	MOUNT ANDERSON (M van Rensburg) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a) 	In a tightly bunched field leaving the 1800m, JACOB'S LADDER (R Munger) had to be steadied and lost position when awkwardly placed between THEFUTUREISBRIGHT (M Yeni), which shifted out slightly and ARCTIC DRIFT (G Wright).
b)	Jockey K Matsunyane reported that FOLLOW THE STAR changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
c)	Jockey M Mjoka reported that ANCIENT TIMES did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.

d)	CRIMSON KING (S Khathi) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt)
e)	Jockey G Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ARCTIC DRIFT more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt and was fined R7000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey G Wright used his crop, the number of strikes (18) over the permissible level and that this was a Listed race.
f)	HAN SOLO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised. (LM)
g)	JAEGER MOON, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
