Stipes Report

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	BLACK THORN (K de melo) over-raced in the early and middle stages. 	Jockey de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with BLACK THORN in running and eased this gelding out of the race at the 800m.  The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
	Trainer S G Tarry was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables.
b)	Jockey K Matsunyane was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking RAISEAHALLELUJAH more than twelve times in the entire race.  Jockey Matsunyane signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R7000 was imposed.
When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14), his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (4), his finishing position in the race (2nd) and the status of the race.
c)	Jockey N Klink was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking MOTOWN MAGIC more than twelve times in the entire race.
Jockey Klink signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R4000 was imposed.
When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (17), his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (2), his finishing position in the race (4th) and the status of the race.
d)	ARUMUGAM (*K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer W H Marwing advised (LN).

JOCKEY CHANGES:

a)	IMPERIAL RUBY was ridden by Jockey M van Rensburg (declared 28 October 2022 at 13H23).

RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:

a)	OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE raced without a tongue tie (declared 26 October 2022 at 07H06).

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:

a)	SHANGO mild post race distress.
b)	BLACK THORN examined post race, nothing obvious detected.  Veterinary Certificate required prior to racing (Rule 49.7 applies).  Trainer S G Tarry advised (TL).
