THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 200m NOTHINGELSEMATTERS (R Fourie) shifted out away from the crop and had to be steadied away from the heels of TWICE THE MASTER (O Noach). b) Apprentice J Solomons (LANDINGONTHEMOON) dropped his crop at the 100m. c) Shortly before the finish NOTHINGELSEMATTERS (R Fourie) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between the heels of TWICE THE MASTER (O Noach) and POLICY TARGET (G van Niekerk), which shifted out and was immediately straightened. As a consequence, Jockey R Fourie was unable to fully test NOTHINGELSEMATTERS all the way to the finish. d) In view of the performance of COSMIC EMPIRE (C Bantam), which finished tailed off, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the performance of GUY ALEXANDER (S Khumalo), which finished tailed off, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) Jockey C Bantam was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on COSMIC EMPIRE. Jockey C Bantam signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. g) TWICE THE MASTER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
