THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SUPER SECRET (*S Sosibo) was slow losing one length. Race 3 contd. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Apprentice K A Brewer reported that GOLDEN SPIRAL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. b) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking GILDA GRAY more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and a penalty of R2000 and a suspension from riding in two consecutive racemeetings in Central Provinces was imposed. Suspension dates to be advised. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14), his recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (4), as well as Jockey Khumalo's overall record for the current season with regards to Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline M). c) GILDA GRAY (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) A COLOURFUL PAST raced with a tongue tie on (declared 31 October 2022 at 10H07). b) GOLDEN SPIRAL raced without a tongue tie (declared 1 November 2022 at 09H00). c) SUPER SECRET Apprentice S Sosibo weighed out at 49,4kg, only claiming 3kg of his 4kg allowance. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) GOLDEN SPIRAL abnormal respiratory noise. SCRATCHED: a) MEET THE CAPTAIN strained muscle right hind (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) PETUNIA change of track.
