Race 2: RACING240 FOR RACING. FOR YOU MAIDEN PLATE (F & M) (For Maiden Fillies and Mares)

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	AFRICAN TUNE (S Khumalo), REGGIES GIRL (C Habib) and SEA ANEMONE (R Simons) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls.
b)	LADY ZULTANITE (M Yeni) was slow losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	AFRICAN TUNE (S Khumalo) was baulked for a clear run from the 400m to the 200m and thereafter shifted in to continue its run.
b)	At approximately the 250m, LADY CRUSADE (N Klink) had to steady and switch in when awkwardly placed between the heels of NORDIC VIEW (R Danielson) and SEA ANEMONE (R Simons).
c)	MIGHTY GODDESS (R Munger) hung in in the concluding stages.
d)	Jockey Wes Marwing reported that ROXIE IN SEATTLE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. 	
e)	Jockey M Yeni reported that LADY ZULTANITE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. 	
f)	Jockey	R Danielson reported that NORDIC VIEW made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. 	
g)	Jockey C Habib reported that REGGIES GIRL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. 	
h)	When questioned regarding the performance of SEA ANEMONE, Jockey R Simons told the Stewards that he had received no instructions, however, it was his intention to adopt a leading position and keep the filly in the clear when making her debut in today's race. After the filly had a tardy start, he had placed her behind other horses and in his opinion, she had not enjoyed this position and despite him riding the filly forward, she had not improved. It was his opinion that she would be better suited to a distance further than this race. Jockey R Simons added that SEA ANEMONE was green en route to the start and this greenness had also been present in the race. The Stewards noted Jockey R Simon's explanation and in view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.  
i)	Jockey J Mariba (IN THE BEGINNING) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film and was advised against the practice of making celebratory gestures prior to the finish line. 
When assessing this matter, the Stewards were cognisant that Jockey J Mariba had commenced the celebratory gesture as this filly was about to cross the finish line.
j)	IN THE BEGINNING (J Mariba), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
