THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HIGH ROLLER (R Munger) and LETHA (D De Gouveia) were slow into stride. b) VESUVIO (J P van der Merwe) reared in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) JUST A MEMORY (*K A Brewer) commenced to give ground from the 600m. As a result, Apprentice Brewer did not persevere with his riding from the 500m, and thereafter reported that JUST A MEMORY coughed severely during the running of this race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. b) MORETHANAFEELING (C Habib) commenced to give ground to the field from the 250m, thereafter Jockey Habib reported that this filly made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that LETHA made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) VESUVIO (J P van der Merwe), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer T Zackey advised (MdP).
