THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MHLABENI (L Mxothwa) and ROYAL SHINDIG (E Webber) were nervous in the stalls.
b)	USHUAIA (R Fourie) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	In view of the performance of USHUAIA, which failed to respond to Jockey R Fourie's urgings from the top of the straight and was not persevered with in the latter stages, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
b)	In view of the performance of HOMER FIDGET (C Maujean) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c)	Apprentice RA Venniker reported that EL ROMIACHI felt uncomfortable in its action and she did not persevere with her riding from the 150m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	MHLABENI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised. (LM)
