Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being taken back to race behind runners shortly after the start, RUSSIAN ROCK (K de Melo) commenced to over race in the early and middle stages. b) Jockey L Mxothwa, the rider of SUPER SILVANO, appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the concluding stages of the race and reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race. c) In view of the performance of DO IT AGAIN (A Marcus) (Betting 5/10 ; Distance 2.80), the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Trainer DM Kannemeyer was advised to report back on the condition of RUSSIAN ROCK on its return to the stables. e) SOVEREIGN SPIRIT (G Cheyne) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 120 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr T Luz) f) HOEDSPRUIT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (SC) g) SUPER SILVANO, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee M Phaca, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised.
