THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CRUIZIN CALIFORNIA (O Noach) was restless in the stalls. b) LUCY THE PINK (*J Solomons) and PARISIENNE GIRL (C Habib) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BENEATH THE MOON (JP van der Merwe) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. b) At the 700m LUCY THE PINK (*J Solomons), which was hanging out and raced awkwardly on the bend, shifted out and had to be steadied away from the heels of TURN THE PAGE (K de Melo). c) HAPPY CHANCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
