Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	VENI VIDI VICCI (A Marcus) was restless in the stalls, taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.
b)	DRAGONFLY (A Domeyer) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, QUE SHIRAZ (S Khumalo) cast his left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	Approaching the 100m YOU KNOW WHO (*R Venniker) was crowded for galloping room and awkwardly placed on the heels of SURJAY (C Orffer) which was switched out to continue its run. As a consequence, SUN DAZED (G Cheyne) was brushed on more than one occasion by YOU KNOW WHO (*R Venniker).
c)	Jockey C Orffer was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of SURJAY he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to YOU KNOW WHO and SUN DAZED when he switched out to continue his run at the 100m. Jockey C Orffer signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 09/01/2022 to 15/01/2022 inclusive)
d)	The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine FORT RED (D Ashby) which was not persevered with in the closing stages.
e)	HAN SOLO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised. (JF)
