Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 150m MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (*R Venniker) was carried outwards by DOUBLEMINT (R Fourie) which closed the race off strongly and improved into a narrow run on the outside of WARRIOR BLING (G van Niekerk) which rolled outwards. Following this incident WARRIOR BLING (G van Niekerk) was momentarily inconvenienced on the heels of DOUBLEMINT (R Fourie) and HOLY WARRIOR (K de Melo). b) Jockey A Marcus reported that he felt something amiss with CRIMSON KING. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey M Yeni reported that SALVATOR MUNDI did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ONE WAY TRAFFIC more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey Khumalo's poor record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey Khumalo used his crop and the number of strikes (14) over the permissible level. e) DOUBLEMINT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) DOUBLEMINT raced without ear muffs (declared 10h17 on 20220106) b) WARRIOR BLING raced without a tongue tie (declared 09h40 on 20220105) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CRIMSON KING - examined post-race.
