Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	ALLEZ MORIS (M Yeni) jumped awkwardly.
b)	PAS DE NOM (G Behr) was squeezed out shortly after the start was effected.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, LE MORNE cast its right front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	Leaving the 800m DAVE THE KING (C Orffer), which was racing at the front of the field, commenced to hang out and raced very wide on the latter part of the bend and into the straight. As a consequence, COUNTDOWN (JP van der Merwe) which was racing on the outside of DAVE THE KING (C Orffer) and had raced awkwardly on the bend, was carried out and raced wide on the latter part of the bend and into the straight.
c)	FAMOUS AND RICH (C Habib) was hanging out in the straight which resulted in the bit being pulled through this gelding's mouth placing Jockey C Habib at a disadvantage.
d)	Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that COUNTDOWN did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	Jockey R Fourie reported that LIGHT SPEED made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. 
f)	COUSIN CASEY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised. (JF)
g)	AT MY COMMAND, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. (CvA)
