THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start for all runners. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey C Ngcobo reported that he felt something amiss with BAR VISIONS in the concluding stages and as a result, he did not persevere with his ride. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Apprentice M Katjedi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse LA DREAMER more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (17) Apprentice Katjedi struck the horse LA DREAMER, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2500 was imposed. c) TAKE TO WAR (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Clarke acting on behalf of Trainer G Puller was advised (NS).
