THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SILVANO'S DASHER (K de Melo) dropped its head down as the start was effected, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride.
b)	STEINBECK (R Fourie) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (J Jacobs) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	WECANGOALLNIGHT (JP van der Merwe) was hanging out on the bend.
c)	Jockey M Yeni was unable to ride NIGHT RULER to the finish when close to the heels of SUGAR MOUNTAIN (A Domeyer).
d)	Jockey G van Niekerk reported that RUNNING RIFLES (G van Niekerk) raced with its tongue over the bit and did not stride out freely in running. As a consequence, he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	NORTHERN SONG (C Habib) was hanging in in the latter stages.
f)	IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P Muscutt was advised. (SC)
g)	SILVANO'S DASHER, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. (RS)
