THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	THE APPEAL (K de Melo) was stubborn to load. Lost 2 lengths.  
b)	JETAVANA (T Godden) and CAPTAIN SEAGER (M Yeni) fly-jumped when leaving the stalls, losing 1 length. 

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	Leaving the 200m, JUAN CARLOS (*R A Venniker) which had come to the end of its run was steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of CAPTAIN SEAGER (M Yeni) which commenced to hang in and FOREST JUMP (S Moodley) which shifted out away from the crop.  Thereafter, in the concluding stages FOREST JUMP (S Moodley) and CAPTAIN SEAGER (M Yeni) came together and brushed.   The Stipendiary Board, after reviewing the aforementioned incident was of the opinion that blame could not be apportioned to any individual rider and therefore deemed this to be a racing incident. 
b)	Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse FOREST JUMP more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse FOREST JUMP, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed.
c)	MR MOLONY (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer G Van Zyl (Jnr) advised (DZ).
