Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLDEN PEACE (G Lerena) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) CARLOTINO (C Habib) and SAN PEDRO (C Orffer) made contact leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start GIMME'S LADDIE (K de Melo) and MO CESAR (JP van der Merwe) had to be steadied away from the heels of ICANSEECLEARLYNOW (C Bantam), which shifted out leaving the stalls and was immediately straightened. b) TRIPPI T (G van Niekerk) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. c) GOLDEN PEACE (G Lerena) was hanging out from the 300m. d) Jockey C Habib reported that CARLOTINO raced with its tongue over the bit. e) In view of the performance of SERVILIUS (S Veale), which tired quickly from the 300m, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) Jockey R Fourie reported that CIDER HOUSE RULES changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) VELDSKOEN (AUS), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
