THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SAARTJIE (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SUPREME DREAM (K Matsunyane) was hanging out in the straight. b) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with LOVE RULES and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) LOVE RULES (R Fourie) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) d) SAARTJIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
