THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DESERT FOX (S Khumalo) and CAPTAIN THRONE (K Matsunyane) were slow into stride. b) MIDNIGHT VERDICT (D De Gouveia) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. c) FULL GO (J P van der Merwe) reared in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey D De Gouveia did not persevere with his riding from the 300m and thereafter reported that MIDNIGHT VERDICT did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer J Borman was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. b) KING OF VENUS (*S Sosibo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee T Nako advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) HEARTS THUNDER was ridden by Jockey J R Syster (declared 29 December 2022 at 09H08). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MIDNIGHT VERDICT examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Veterinary Certificate required prior to racing (Rule 49.7 applies).
