THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, KAMBULU (C Habib) broke the front gates open resulting in WONDERWORLD (K Matsunyane) breaking through the front gate. Trainer S G Tarry will be advised to re-school KAMBULU prior to its next engagement (PHvdW). b) WONDERWORLD (K Matsunyane) was slow losing one length. c) CIRCUS LIGHTS (R Munger) was slow losing three lengths. Trainer G J Maroun was advised to re-school CIRCUS LIGHTS prior to its next engagement (PHvdW). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) During the loading process, KAMBULU (C Habib) pre-empted the start as the hood was removed and broke through the front of the stalls. This resulted in WONDERWORLD (K Matsunyane) pre-empting the start and breaking through the front of the stalls. Both horses were restrained by their riders, returned to the start, examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) PUERTO PLATA (ARG) (G Lerena) shifted both ways away from the crop in the concluding stages. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that PUERTO PLATA (ARG) did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) BLACK LIGHTNING (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) BLACK LIGHTNING raced with a pressure halter on (declared 21 December 2022 at 12H47). b) KEEP THE FORT Jockey R Danielson weighed out at 56,8kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
