THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	A Fair start.
 
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	FUNKY MUSIC (T Gumede) and GIMME A RAINBOW (*M K Katjedi) brushed on 2 occasions shortly before the finish. 
b)	Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse PURPLE OPERATOR more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (16) Jockey S Veale struck the horse PURPLE OPERATOR, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, his record (3) in relation to this Rule, and the fact that he won the Race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R3000 was imposed.
c)	Jockey R Khathi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he as the rider of BRAVE VOYAGER failed to weigh out at the carded weight resulting in a change of rider. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed.
d)	In view of the circumstances leading to the scratching of FIRU STAR (A Mgudlwa), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion.  Suspension dates: 31.12.22 to the 06.01.23. FIRU STAR may not be presented for re-passing during this period.  Trainer G B Puller was advised. (DA)
e)	PURPLE OPERATOR (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Howells advised (DZ).
