Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NIPPY WINTER (A Domeyer) stood awkwardly in the stalls, jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) TURN THE PAGE (G van Niekerk) jumped awkwardly outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start SYMPHONY OF LIGHT (G Behr), which shifted out leaving the stalls, rolled in and clipped the heels of TURN THE PAGE (G van Niekerk) and stumbled. In view of this report, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine TURN THE PAGE (G van Niekerk). b) At the 150m TURN THE PAGE (G van Niekerk) rolled in and had to be steadied away from the heels of SYMPHONY OF LIGHT (G Behr), which rolled out. c) When questioned regarding the improved performance of BODY ELECTRIC (S Veale) compared to the filly's previous run on 03/12/2022 Trainer C Bass-Robinson told the Stewards that the filly had not settled in her previous race over 1400m and, in her opinion, this was too far for her at this stage of her career. The Stewards reviewed BODY ELECTRIC's previous run on 03/12/2022, which confirmed that the filly had raced wide without cover and as a consequence had not settled in the early and middle stages as reported in the Stipes report. Trainer C Bass-Robinson's attention was drawn to the Rule pertaining to in-and-out running and was advised, where possible, to race BODY ELECTRIC over a similar distance in future engagements. d) Jockey D Ashby reported that FEARLESS TRIP did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
