THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BRIGADE (M Mjoka) kicked the back gates, removed, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and reloaded. b) FISTS OF FIRE (D Dillon) kicked in stalls and was bumped leaving the starting stalls. c) DEPUTY MARSHALL (D De Gouveia) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) GALABIER (A Mgudlwa) failed to parade. Trainer Gareth van Zyl will be advised that should his runner fail to adequately parade in future, it may be suspended. b) TEICHMAN (T Godden) raced wide in the early stages. c) At the 1000m, ROCKY COAST (A Arries) brushed the inside running rail. d) QUERARI'S COWBOY (K de Melo) was hanging in from the 300m. e) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that DEPUTY MARSHALL took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In deciding whether to question Trainer F Robinson for the, on the face of it, poor performance of ROCKY COAST on the 5 January 2022, the Stipendiary Stewards referred to the reports on the said day from which it was ascertained that ROCKY COAST had lost 3 lengths over 1400m in this run in comparison to today's run where this gelding jumped on terms over longer distance. Accordingly, the Board was of the view that the reason for the poor performance could be garnered from the Stipendiary Stewards' report and therefore the Board elected not to question Trainer F Robinson. g) ROCKY COAST (A Arries), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Robinson advised (DZ).
