THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SILENT TRIGGER (D Ashby) was restless in the stalls.
b)	SEEKING THE ONE (L Mxothwa) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	SEEKING THE ONE (L Mxothwa) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
b)	At the 150m MAX THE OTTER (G Wright) lost momentum when checked away from the heels of TOUT A FAIT (G van Niekerk), which shifted out.	A member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review of this incident and after reviewing the relevant race recordings, were satisfied that the result had not been affected and took no further action.
c)	Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of TOUT A FAIT he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to MAX THE OTTER at the 150m. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 08/01/2023 to 14/01/2023 both dates inclusive)
d)	Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that RUNNING RIFLES did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	VAN HUNKS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (SC)
