THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	CARTEL CAPTAIN (S Veale) and RESONATE (A Domeyer) were restless in the stalls.
b)	RIO QUERARI (P Strydom) was restless in the stalls and jumped awkwardly.
c)	BARZALONA (S Khumalo) and AFRICAN RAIN (D Ashby) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	At the 300m RIO QUERARI (P Strydom) was carried outwards by WE'RE JAMMING (R Fourie), which was directed outwards into clear running.
b)	Jockey G van Niekerk reported that TROMPIE tired quickly in the latter stages and he did not persevere with his riding. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
c)	In view of the performance of CARTEL CAPTAIN (S Veale) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	MR COBBS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (HD)
