THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) VARS VICKY (R Simons) stood losing five lengths. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (PHvdW).
b) MOONSHININGTHROUGH (*M K Katjedi) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) VARS VICKY (R Simons) threw its head down as the start was effected, jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, losing five lengths. The Board, after reviewing this incident, was satisfied that the gates had opened timeously, that VARS VICKY had suffered no impediment by the allotted Handler, and that the subsequent loss of ground was solely due to this gelding's own behaviour.
b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to VARS VICKY, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable jumping with a companion.
Suspension dates: 11 January 2023 to 17 January 2023. VARS VICKY may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised.
c) Apprentice M K Katjedi reported that MOONSHININGTHROUGH did not stride out freely in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
d) BIG BURN (*S Sosibo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
