THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LEADING LAD (W Kennedy) and SISTER LIGHT (G Lerena) came together and bumped leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SOUTHERN BLAZE (K de Melo) and TWOSIDESTOASTORY (*R A Venniker) over-raced in the early stages. b) FLASHY APACHE (D Schwarz) hung out from the 300m. c) At approximately the 300m, the cushion material flap from Apprentice R A Venniker's crop (TWOSIDESTOASTORY) became detached. d) Jockey C Habib reported that AMAZON ORCHID made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) FLASHY APACHE (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer T Zackey advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) WATCHING CLOSELY was ridden by Apprentice K Strydom (declared 13 January 2022 at 07H54). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) AMAZON ORCHID blowing and post race distress. b) LEADING LAD abnormal respiratory noise. c) SOUTHERN BLAZE blowing post race. d) LETSDOIT abnormal respiratory noise.
