Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) The front gates of the stalls of EMERALD FLOE (J Penny), ODEN (M Josi) and MIND MASTER (W Shumba) opened on ther own and the horses were reloaded. b) TULIP WAY (R Satombo) was slow away. c) The Starting Stall Certificate of VESEO (K Derere) was withdrawn for delaying the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start was delayed as a number of the front gates opened on their own accord. Subsequently EMERALD FLOE (J Penny), ODEN (M Josi) and MIND MASTER (W Shumba) and later VESEO ( K Derere) broke through and cantered a short distance, were restrained by their respective riders, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and were re-loaded. The Stewards reviewed the start and were satisfied that the handler had cleared the number 1 starting stall when the start was effected, and took no further action. b) In view of the Starters report with regard to VESEO, this mare has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until recertified tractable loading into the Starting Stalls. Suspension dates from 15th January 2023 to 21st January 2023 both days included. VESEO may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer A Bronkhorst advised. c) VESEO (K Derere) was hanging in badly in the closing stages, placing Jockey Derere at a disadvantage and he could not assist his mount. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine ODEN (M Josi) due to its performance. e) VARNICA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Swanson advised (AJ). JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) EMERALD FLOE (J Penny) raced equipped with earmuffs. b) VESEO (K Derere) raced without alumites and equipped with steel shoes. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ODEN examined post race, nothing untoward was found. b) VESEO examined post race, nothing untoward was found.
