THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	TWICE GOLDEN (*S Hlengwa) lost 1 length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	MODE (M V'Rensburg), RUN TO DENMARK (R Khathi) and TWICE GOLDEN (*S Hlengwa) brushed the inside running rail and became unbalanced at the 1800m.
b)	Jockey T Godden (ELECTRIC SURGE) accidentally dropped his crop at the 200m.
c)	At the 200m, CAPETOWN BEAUTY (C Habib) was steadied off the heels of TOM BOMBADIL (*M K Katjedi) which shifted in.  Apprentice M K Katjedi (TOM BAMBADIL) appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to take more care when allowing his mounts to shift ground in races in future.
d)	In the concluding stages TWICE GOLDEN (*S Hlengwa) and CAPETOWN BEAUTY (C Habib) brushed, and thereafter CAPETOWN BEAUTY (C Habib) was steadied when awkwardly placed between TWICE GOLDEN (*S Hlengwa) and WITH PLEASURE (K de Melo).
e)	In view of the performance of SUNDAY ISLAND (*R A Venniker) (14.25 lengths, 5/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f)	In view of the performance of SPACE NEWS (S Moodley) (12.25 lengths, 16/1 in the betting, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g)	Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse PAPA C more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey J Gates struck the horse PAPA C, and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed.
h)	TOM BOMBADIL (*M K Katjedi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Moore advised (BB).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a)	Jockey M V'Rensburg (MODE) replaced Jockey M Mjoka and was granted permission to ride this horse 1 kg over the carded weight as there was no other rider available (11.01.23/08h29).
b)	Jockey T Gumede (ELLIS ISLAND) weighed out at 52.9 kg, 0.5 kg over the carded weight.
