THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PHANTOMOFTHEFOREST (S Khumalo), DESTINATIONUNKNOWN (M Yeni) and THE GATHERING (J Greyling) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) AIR FUSION (G Lerena) kicked the back gates shortly before the start was effected, resulting in a number of horses pre-empting the start. b) TINCTURE TIME (R Danielson) stumbled shortly after the start. c) MOTHER OF PEARL (K de Melo) hung in from the 300m. d) CAPTAIN TIK TOK (*P Mxoli) hung in the concluding stages. e) Jockey J Greyling reported that he felt something amiss with THE GATHERING in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) MOTHER OF PEARL (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
