Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLUE HOLLY (A Arries) and FORESHORE (J Jacobs) jumped slow, losing one length. b) FLYING V (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 100m MISS PAGET (K de Melo) had to be steadied when close to the heels of EASY MONEY (K Steyn), which raced green, shifted in sharply and was immediately straightened. Shortly thereafter STRING OF LIGHTS (C Orffer) shifted in away from MISS PAGET (K de Melo) resulting in VANDALISE (JP van der Merwe), which was racing green, becoming awkwardly placed when close to the heels of STRING OF LIGHTS (C Orffer). b) In the concluding stages BLUE HOLLY (A Arries) was carried out marginally by THE CHARLESTON (A Domeyer), which raced green and shifted out at the finish. c) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that RUNWAY BOMB, which raced green and was hanging out from the 300m, made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey C Orffer reported that STRING OF LIGHTS changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) THE CHARLESTON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
