THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CILANTRO (C Maujean) and IMPRESSION (*S Sosibo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, SPIRIT PRINCESS (J P van der Merwe), which rolled out, and TREE FAIRY (P Strydom), which shifted in, came together and bumped. b) Leaving the 1200m, ISLAND BEAUTY (K Matsunyane), which commenced to over-race, clipped the heels of CAPE LIGHTS (M Yeni). c) Jockey C Maujean reported that CILANTRO made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) CAPE LIGHTS (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R R Sage advised (MduP). e) ISLAND BEAUTY (K Matsunyane), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Crawford, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised (AH. JOCKEY CHANGES: a) AUNT PITTYPAT was ridden by G Pieterse (declared 22 January 2023 at 13H13).
