THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, ANGEL OF WAR (R Simons) rushed the front gates. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TSAR BOMBA (K de Melo) hung in in the concluding stages. b) Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with SWING UPON A STAR in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer S G Tarry will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of SWING UPON A STAR on return to stables. c) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that he felt something amiss with EXPEDITIONER in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) TEXAS RED (*M K Katjedi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A B Fortune advised (MS). When questioned regarding the improved performance of TEXAS RED, Trainer A B Fortune explained to the Board that, in her opinion, this gelding is best suited to racing around the turn and when allowed to race from a more prominent position. Trainer A B Fortune has undertaken, where possible, to race this gelding around the turn and to adopt similar tactics in future. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None.
