THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHE CAN (T Godden) was restless in the stalls. b) FULL OF MAGIC (*R Venniker) was slow losing 3 lengths. c) CALI PRINCESS (K de Melo) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, LADY LACEWING (A Mgudlwa) and EVERYONELOVESAGREY (*S Hlengwa) came together and bumped. b) SECRET WINX (*S Sosibo) and EVERYONELOVESAGREY (*S Hlengwa) were hanging in throughout. c) AFRICAN BEAT (J Gates), raced green and shifted out away from the crop between the 300m and the 100m. d) At the 100m, ERROLS LEGACY (C Habib) was switched in off the heels of AFRICAN FOLKLORE (S Moodley) which rolled out. e) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse AFRICAN FOLKLORE more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse AFRICAN FOLKLORE, the manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. f) AFRICAN FOLKLORE (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Eudey acting for Trainer M Miller advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) SECRET WINX was ridden by Apprentice S Sosibo (claiming 2.5kg) (advised 24.01.23/8h46).
