THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	BE HOPEFUL (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing three lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 
 
a)	Leaving the 900m CHIQUITA BANANA (JR Syster) was awkwardly placed on the outside of FLYING ASTERIX (Y Ramzan), which shifted out when close to the heels of ZAYHAAN (X Ndlovu). Jockey Ramzan appeared before the Board and was advised to take more care in similar circumstances.
b)	In view of the performance of CHIQUITA BANANA (JR Syster) and ZAYHAAN (X Ndlovu), which finished tailed off, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. 
c)	Apprentice P Mxoli reported that ST PATRICK'S DAY did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
d)	In view of the report from the starter regarding BE HOPEFUL (K Minnie), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 28/01/2023 to 03/02/2023 inclusive). BE HOPEFUL may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
e)	SPIRIT OF SILVANO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
