Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MASTER OF AFRICA (G Wright) turned its head into the adjacent stall as the start was effected, losing many lengths.
b)	PASHTUNWALI (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	WINTER AIR (S Khumalo) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	The Stewards called a race review into the start regarding MASTER OF AFRICA (G Wright) in barrier 11 and established that as the Starter effected the start, this gelding turned its head into the adjacent stall and consequently, lost substantial ground to the field which was further compounded by it jumping awkwardly once it left the stalls. As this substantial loss of ground could be solely attributed to this gelding's behaviour, MASTER OF AFRICA (G Wright) was declared to be a runner. In view of the report from the Starter regarding MASTER OF AFRICA (G Wright), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 29/01/2023 to 04/02/2023 inclusive). MASTER OF AFRICA may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
b)	Approaching the 1100m RED SASH (K Matsunyane) commenced to over race, shifted out, raced wide for a number of strides, had to be straightened and directed inwards towards the inside running rail. 
c)	Approaching the 350m SHIFTING PATH (J Jacobs) was turned inwards and became unbalanced when brushed on the left hindquarter by FUTURE TURN (G Lerena), which rolled outwards and was straightened. 
d)	BARDOLINO (L Mxothwa) came under pressure in the closing stages, commenced to hang outwards and had to be straightened.
e)	NEVADA KING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (SC)
