THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	VICTOR RAIL (K de Melo), MCCARTNEY (S Veale) and AXEL COLLINS (M Yeni) were stubborn to load.
b)	SHOT OF COURAGE stood losing many lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	MAJESTIC ROY (T Gumede) proved difficult cantering to the start and had to be led by a handler. Stable Employee T Rich, acting on behalf of Trainer K Naidoo was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended
b)	VICTOR RAIL (K de Melo) took an awkward stride at the 250m. In view of the performance of VICTOR RAIL (K de Melo) (7.15 lengths, 6/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
c)	TIGER IN RED (W Marwing) shifted in away from the crop from the 150m.
d)	Apprentice S Hlengwa (JOHN THE GREAT) accidentally dropped his crop at the 150m. 
e)	In view of the Starter's report with regard to SHOT OF COURAGE (J Gates), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 30 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion on a Raceday.  Suspension dates: 02.02.23 to the 03.03.23.  SHOT OF COURAGE may not be presented for re-passing during this period.  Trainer T Pretorius was advised. (SL)
f)	MCCARTNEY (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Rivalland advised (NS).
