THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, CLEAVER GREENE (M Yeni) became unruly and reared in the stalls. The starting stall certificate for this colt has been withdrawn. Trainer M F de Kock was advised (GT). b) SPANISH BOY (S Khumalo) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BARNEYS PRIDE (G Lerena) hung in from the 600m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) After being slow away, SPANISH BOY (S Khumalo) ducked out sharply, was encouraged forward to obtain a handy position and thereafter, at approximately the 200m, took a number of awkward strides before compounding. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) In view of the Starter's report with regard to CLEAVER GREENE, this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading with a companion. Suspension dates: 16 January 2022 to 22 January 2022. CLEAVER GREENE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M F de Kock was advised. d) GOETHE (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
