THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	GODSWOOD (*D B Geerthsen) and SET TO GO (J P van der Merwe) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
b)	MAY QUEEN (R Simons) and WIND WATER (S Khumalo) were slow into stride.	
c)	SHELDON (G Lerena) stumbled shortly after the start,

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	TWIN STRIKE (G Pieterse) hung in from the 400m.
b)	GODSWOOD (*D B Geerthsen) hung in from the 200m.
c)	SAMUEL SALT (C Habib) commenced to give ground to the field from the 400m.  Thereafter, Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d)	When questioned regarding his ride on WIND WATER, Jockey S Khumalo explained to the Board that after being slow away, this gelding had failed to muster early speed and raced further back than he had intended. Thereafter, when encouraged forward, WIND WATER took a number of awkward strides in running, faltered badly at the 150m, and had to be steadied and regathered. Jockey S Khumalo's explanation was corroborated by the patrol films and his concerns regarding this gelding were relayed to the Veterinary Surgeon, who was requested to examine.	
e)	LUCY ENGLISH (R Danielson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
