THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	JUST POWER (D Ashby) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be assisted by a Handler, causing a delay.  Thereafter, JUST POWER (D Ashby) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a further delay.
b)	FORTUNE OF GOLD (K Steyn) reared in the stalls, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn.
c)	AFRICA'S ROCK (*RA Venniker) was stubborn loading and thereafter, slow into stride.
d)	MATSUYAMO (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	In view of the report from the Starter, Trainer JVA Strydom was advised that should JUST POWER, which was difficult proceeding to the start, behave in a similar manner in future engagements, she may be suspended. 
b)	In view of the report from the starter regarding JUST POWER (D Ashby), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 30 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 04/02/2023 to 05/03/02/2023 inclusive). JUST POWER may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
c)	GLOBETONIC (L Mxothwa) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.
d)	MOTOR CITY HITMAN (S Khumalo) was held up for a clear run between the 300m and the 150m.
e)	Jockey D Schwarz (SULTANAH) dropped his crop at the 250m.
f)	DUKE OF ORANGE (JP van der Merwe) was hanging in from the 200m.
g)	CHARIOT MASTER (S Khathi) and GLOBETONIC (L Mxothwa) brushed at the 100m.
h)	Apprentice RA Venniker and Jockey K Minnie reported that AFRICA'S ROCK and MATSUYAMO respectively changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine these geldings.
i)	Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with ALADO'S PRIDE. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
j)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding FORTUNE OF GOLD (K Steyn), Trainer SB Kotzen will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
k)	FLINDERS RANGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. (LM)
