Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	GOLDEN PROSPECT (C Habib) was slow into stride.
b)	ARGO ALLEY (D Schwarz) reared in the stalls.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	At approximately the 1200m, GOLDEN PROSPECT (C Habib) and ELECTRIC GOLD (M Yeni) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of JIMMY DON (G Lerena) which rolled in.   
b)	SHOEMAKER (R Fourie) took an awkward stride at the 1100m.
c)	At approximately the 300m, JIMMY DON (G Lerena) was directed inwards off the heels of UNZEN (*K A Brewer) to continue its run.  Thereafter JIMMY DON shifted out away from the crop and then commenced to hang out.
d)	Apprentice K A Brewer the rider of UNZEN, accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m.
e)	In the concluding stages, EYE OF THE PROPHET (*R A Venniker) was bumped in and then was carried in significantly by ROYAL VICTORY (S Khumalo) which shifted in away from the crop.
Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of ROYAL VICTORY, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to EYE OF THE PROPHET (*R A Venniker) in the concluding stages.  Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of ten days.
Suspension dates to be advised.
f)	Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ROYAL VICTORY more than twelve times in the entire race.  Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R12.000.00.
When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (15), the manner in which and the distance over which the crop was used, the status of the race as well as Jockey Khumalo's recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline.  
g)	EYE OF THE PROPHET (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer P F Matchett advised (MdP).
h)	ROYAL VICTORY (S Khumalo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer N Kotzen advised (SM).
i)	ELECTRIC GOLD (M Yeni), placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer S G Tarry advised (DD).
