THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SUPREME DREAM (L Mxothwa) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 400m NAMIBIAN QUEEN (K Matsunyane) was momentarily unbalanced when brushed on the hindquarter by GLOBAL AVENUE (K de Melo). b) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking SUMMER NIGHT CITY more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey S Veale used his crop, his recent record and the number of strikes (13). c) SUMMER NIGHT CITY (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised.
