Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FUTURE PRINCE (K Matsunyane) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with RUSSIAN ROCK (G Behr), which in turn made contact with CAT DADDY (D Schwarz). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RUSSIAN ROCK (G Behr), which raced wide without cover in the early stages, was allowed to race to the front from the 800m. b) TOUT A FAIT (R Fourie) commenced to over race on the bend. c) Approaching the 100m FIFTY FIVER (C Orffer) was awkwardly placed between CAT DADDY (D Schwarz), which initially rolled inwards and was straightened and FUTURE PRINCE (K Matsunyane), which was hanging out and rolled out slightly. As a consequence, FIFTY FIVER (C Orffer) and CAT DADDY (D Schwarz) made contact with both horses becoming momentarily unbalanced. d) Leaving the 150m Jockey R Fourie (TOUT A FAIT) briefly dropped his right-side rein. e) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on PORT LOUIS, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. f) PORT LOUIS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
