Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In the concluding stages, CALULO (W Kennedy) which rolled out marginally, had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of STAR ACT (D De Gouveia) which changed legs and shifted in. Jockey D De Gouveia appeared before the Board and questioned regarding this incident. In this regard, Jockey D De Gouveia submitted that he could have not anticipated the sharpness of STAR ACT's inward movement when changing legs and thereafter could only correct his mount after the incident. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey D De Gouveia signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.8., in that as the rider of STAR ACT, he failed to ensure that when riding in this race over a straight course that he kept straight, parallel to the running rail and relative to his drawn position until a point not less than 200 metres from the start as indicated by the marker. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. d) SOCIAL BUTTERFLY (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P B Muscutt advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) AUNTY LIZZY was ridden by Jockey K Sakayi (16.01.22/8h53). b) SOCIAL BUTTERFLY raced equipped with blinkers (advised 15.01.22/8h49). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) TRAVELLING LIGHT : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : a) VIVID JET : Lame right front (Trainer - 14.01.22/7h48).
