THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CYBER TIME (J Gates) and TWICE GOLDEN (*S Hlengwa) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SPACE NEWS (A Mgudlwa) and CAPETOWN BEAUTY (*R A Venniker) came together and bumped on two occasions shortly after the start. b) Early in the back straight ROCK FALL (M Yeni) was allowed to improve and raced to the lead passing the 1400m. c) The saddle of PAPA C (S Veale) slipped back in the running. This was confirmed by the video footage on the patrol film. d) Jockey A Mgudlwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Guideline M), in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse SPACE NEWS more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey A Mgudlwa struck the horse SPACE NEWS, and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. e) TWICE GOLDEN (*S Hlengwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (NS).
