Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RISE ABOVE (D Schwarz) reared in the stalls. Trainer J S Roux was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT). b) STORM JEWEL (J Greyling) refused to jump. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer B Webber was advised (GT). c) CILANTRO (C Maujean), EDEN OF AFRICA (*P Mxoli) and LADY DYNAMO (J Penny) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1400m, Jockey J R Syster was dislodged from ALABAMA STORM, which stumbled and fell after clipping the heels of DAME COLLEEN (M Thackeray), which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey J R Syster was attended to by the course medics on the scene for a suspected fractured collar bone, transferred to the medical centre and thereafter dispatched to hospital for further observation. b) Jockey M Thackeray was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of DAME COLLEEN, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ALABAMA STORM (J R Syster) when he shifted in at approximately the 1400m. Jockey M Thackeray signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of fourteen days. Suspension dates are to be advised. c) In view of the Starter's report with regard to STORM JEWEL, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 10 February 2023 to 16 February 2023. STORM JEWEL may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer B Webber was advised. d) MEMORIAL DAY (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S Moffatt advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ALABAMA STORM was ridden by Jockey J R Syster (declared 8 February 2023 at 08H57). b) DAME COLLEEN was ridden by Jockey M Thackeray (declared 9 February 2023 at 08H05).
