THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, CIVIL PRINCESS (ARG) (K de Melo) nudged the front gate open, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. Thereafter, CIVIL PRINCESS (ARG) was stubborn loading. Trainer J J van Vuuren will be advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement. b) COVERT OPERATOR (G Lerena) was stubborn loading. Trainer J J van Vuuren will be advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement. c) COVERT OPERATOR (G Lerena) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. d) WHAT A TIGER (*S Sosibo) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 200m, CAPTAIN DIZZY (J P van der Merwe) was carried in by WHAT A TIGER (*S Sosibo), which rolled in from the 300m and was corrected. b) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with CIVIL PRINCESS (ARG) in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey J P van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.3 in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediately after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales. Jockey J P van der Merwe signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R500.00 was imposed. d) CAPTAIN DIZZY (J P van der Merwe), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B D Botes advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) GRECIA was ridden by Apprentice K A Brewer (declared 9 February 2023 at 14H20). b) WHAT A TIGER: Apprentice S Sosibo weighed out at 50,4kg, only claiming 2kg of his 2,5kg apprentice allowance.
