Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	DOG DETACHMENT (S Khathi) refused to load.
b)	EUROPEAN SUMMER (*RA Venniker) was stubborn loading.
c)	SANCTITY dislodged Jockey R Munger as the start was effected.
d)	PSYCHEDELIC ERIC (Y Ramzan) was restless in the stalls and jumped slow, losing two lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Jockey J Mphanya, after being dislodged whilst proceeding to the start in Race 4, was examined by the course medical officer and declared fit to ride.
b)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, SPANISH FORT (D de Gouveia) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
c)	The start of this race was reviewed with regards to SANCTITY (R Munger) in stall gate 10 and it was established that this gelding had become restless and thrown its head down as the start was effected, dislodging Jockey R Munger. The Stewards were satisfied that SANCTITY had not been impeded, was under Starter's orders and that this incident was as a result of this gelding's own behaviour and declared SANCTITY (R Munger) to be a runner.
d)	NARCOS (R Simons) and BETHEL (L Mxothwa) brushed approaching the 150m.
e)	In view of the report from the starter regarding DOG DETACHMENT (S Khathi), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 30 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as it proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 11/02/2023 to 12/03/2023 inclusive). DOG DETACHMENT may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
f)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding SANCTITY (R Munger), Trainer Z Oosthuizen will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to its next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
g)	RIMAAH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
