Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EASY MONEY (J Jacobs) kicked the back gates and was restless in the stalls. b) DEOCH AN DORIS (O Noach) was restless in the stalls. c) RED PALACE (C Bantam) jumped outwards. d) UNCONQUERABLE LADY (K de Melo) was bumped outwards by HIGHLYCONFIDENTIAL (G van Niekerk), which was carried out by GOLDEN CORN (A Arries) leaving the stalls. e) GIMME SHELTER (C Orffer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the request of Trainer PAW Botha IMPRESSIVE NESSIE (K Steyn) was examined by the course veterinary surgeon on its arrival at the racecourse and passed suitable to race. b) In view of the performance of UNCONQUERABLE LADY (K de Melo) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) When questioned regarding the performance of EASY MONEY (J Jacobs), Trainer PAW Botha stated that after a promising debut run on 17/12/2022 EASY MONEY had run below his expectations on 21/01/2023 with no obvious explanation. He further stated that during this period a number of his horses had run below their ability which, in his opinion, was due to a suspected virus in his stable yard. This explanation was noted. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding EASY MONEY (J Jacobs), Trainer PAW Botha will be advised to have this filly re-schooled before her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DEOCH AN DORIS (O Noach), Trainer VH Marshall will be advised to have this filly re-schooled before her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. f) COSMIC ENERGY (J Solomons) is suspended indefinitely in terms of Rule 93.2.4 and until such time as she proves tractable to load on the transport. g) EASY MONEY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PAW Botha was advised.
