THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 600m MADISON BLUES (K de Melo) was carried outwards by MARSHALL FIELD (R Fourie), which was directed outwards to avoid the heels of SHOTGUN WILLIE (G van Niekerk). b) Approaching the 300m SHOTGUN WILLIE (G van Niekerk) had to be checked when tightened for galloping room between MOHANDAS (JP van der Merwe) and MARSHALL FIELD (R Fourie), which was carried inwards by MADISON BLUES (K de Melo), which was hanging in, shifted in and had to be straightened. Jockey K de Melo was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of MADISON BLUES he failed to take the necessary corrective measures timeously to keep his mount on a straight course. Jockey K de Melo signed an Admission of Guilt and was given the penalty of a warning. c) Leaving the 100m MADISON BLUES (K de Melo) was awkwardly placed on the outside of ELEGANT NOBLE (L Mxothwa), which rolled out under pressure. During this incident MADISON BLUES (K de Melo) attempted to bite ELEGANT NOBLE (L Mxothwa). d) ELEGANT NOBLE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
