THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	BLACK LIGHTNING (*D B Geerthsen) and GREGOR MACGREGOR (D De Gouveia) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.	
b)	MIDNIGHT CRYSTAL (*P Mxoli) and LADY SANZA (N Qaule) were slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	As the start was effected, BLACK LIGHTNING (*D B Geerthsen), jumped awkwardly inwards making contact with the right-side front gate
b)	MONTMERENCY (D Schwarz) was continually baulked for a clear run from the 400m to the 200m.
c)	BLACK LIGHTNING (*D B Geerthsen) hung in from the 400m.
d)	JUST EMINENT (G Lerena), which raced prominently throughout, tired badly from the 300m. 
In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.	
e)	FOLLOW MY PATH (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
